Vesak festival in Buttala

This year's vesak festival under state patronage will be held at Yudaganawa Raja Maha Viharaya of Buttala Divisional Secretariat in Moneragala District by the Ministry of Buddhasasana on instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Prime Minister and Minister of Buddhasasana D.M. Jayaratne has directed his officials of the Ministry to organise the state vesak festival on a grand scale on 25 May, at 2.00 p.m. President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be the chief guest on the occasion.

According to the instructions of the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka Samurdhi Development Authority has planned to distribute three hundred thousand copies of Budusarana newspaper among devotees on that day free of charge.
