The historic Wadduwa Poson Maha Perahera will be held for the 32nd
consecutive year on July 13 at 7.30pm under the patronage of Ven.
Bopitiye Dhammissara Nayake Thera, Viharadhipathi of Sri Samudrarama
Viharaya, Dampiyagama and Fisheries Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne,
President of the organising committee.
Blood donation today at Al Hikma College
A blood donation campaign organised by the Al Masjid Najmi,
Keselwatte, Colombo Central Masjid Federation and other social service
organisations will be held today at the Al Hikma College, Colombo 12
from 8.00 a.m.

Chathurika Pieris plays the female role in Mahasamayama |
Prof. Ariyaratne Athugala’s Mahasamayama will go on the boards at the
Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre, Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatte on
May 19 at 6.30 p.m. for the public and on following day at 10.30 a.m.
for schoolchildren.
Many critics are of the opinion that Athugala’s stage play,
Mahasamayama has expanded the parameters of the Sinhala music.The cast
includes Jackson Anthony, Sriyantha Mendis, Channa Wijewardena,
Ravibandu Vidyapathi, Nissanka Diddeniya, Indika Upamali, Chaturika
Peiris and Madani Malwatte.
Music is by Visharada Samantha Perera.

Patient appeals for help
Mrs. Chamila Priyanganee (40) of 10/B, Gemunupura, Kotelawala,
Kaduwela, a mother of two babies is suffering from acute leukaemia (AML
M2). She is undergoing treatment at the Cancer Hospital, Maharagama at
present. She has been advised by specialists to undergo bone marrow
transplant, which is estimated to cost around Rs. 50-60 lakhs and the
surgery could be preformed at the Christian Medical College Hospital,
Vellore, India.
As her family finds it difficult to meet the medical
bill she appeals to the public for assistance, to be remitted to A/c No.
74605742, Bank of Ceylon, Nugegoda.

Liver transplant
Eight-year-old W.M. Asitha Gimhan of 83/4 G, Galahitiyawa,
Siyambalape is suffering from liver disease and is in urgent need of a
transplant. At present, he is under treatment of Prof. Mandika
Wijeyaratne at the Professional Vascular and Transplant Unit of the
National Hospital, Colombo.
His parents, W.M. Sulalitha and Samanthi Peiris, who are in dire
financial straits, appeal to the generous public for financial
assistance.
