P and S promotes culinary skills
In January, Perera and Sons (P and S) introduced a competition where
contestants had to prepare a unique dish using the ingredients seen on
the P and S 2013 calendar.
The competition has been introduced to promote and enhance the
culinary skills. The judging criteria was based on the uniqueness of the
dish, taste, appearance, originality, personal appearance and hygiene.
"We short listed one per month for the final round from the over 100
applications we received.
"Lahiru Jayaratne was adjudged the winner for his outstanding recipe
which also was one of the most innovative dishes in the competition.
Lahiru's dish, 'Noodle Pudding' included the basic criteria of a
base, filling and a garnish that made him the winner," said Business
Development Manager, Perera and Sons, Ruvini Kariyawasan.
"The competition will continue up to the end of the year. Quarterly
winners are awarded cash prizes and vouchers. The winner of the grand
finalè will be awarded two air tickets to Thailand for a two-night stay
on full board basis," she said. |
