Dialog conducts golf clinic

Dialog Enterprise, recently concluded a golf clinic conducted by Sri Lankan and Indian golf professionals at the Royal Golf Club. The golf clinic was open to children and adults.

The golf clinic gave Dialog Enterprise customers the opportunity to learn the right techniques, movements, stance, and grips demonstrated by professional golfers. Two of the coaches at the clinic were Mithun Perera and K Prabakaran.

NASCO 2013

NASCO 2013, organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) will have new sectors this year.

The new sectors are Modern Retail, Insurance, IT, Corporate Selling and Best Female Award.SLIM President Gamika de Silva said that NASCO recognises the best of the best in sales professionals in the country.

“It also facilitates cross industry sales learning, imparts greater exposure to our country's sales professionals, builds confidence among participants, develops leadership and presentation skills of participants.”

Advisor to the panel of judges, Nandana A Wickramagae said that the exposure one receives would be valuable to any young sales professional.

Nippolac Wasana Warama draw

The final draw of ‘Nippolac Wasana Warama’, consumer promotion campaign, was held recently at its head office at Rajagiriya for the fifth consecutive time.

The winners for February, March and April were selected. Managing Director Raja Hewabowala, General Manager Thusitha Premaratne, Marketing Manager Viraj Adikari, Brand Manager Yasas de Silva were present.

Union Bank conducts inter-department quiz

Union Bank of Colombo PLC hosted their first branch and inter-department quiz recently with the participation of over 45 teams. The quiz was organised to build knowledge and comradeship among staff.

The questions in the quiz were based on Union Bank’s focus on the SME sector, the bank’s history and products, general knowledge, current affairs, sports and entertainment.

The team representing the Strategic Planning, Development Banking and Factoring departments was the winner of the competition while the runner-up was the team representing the Legal, Compliance and Risk departments.

There were also presentations for the ‘best team name’ and the ‘most colourful and creatively dressed’ team.

Activities were also organised to encourage audience participation at the event.

Little Lion receives commendation

Little Lion Associates (Pvt) Ltd received the excellence award (A+) at the annual Manufacturing of Hygienic and Clean Food - 2013 awards presentation conducted by the Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipality, at the Taj Samudra recently. It was inaugurated by Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa. The Chief Executive Officer, Little Lion Associates, S.M.D. Suriyakumara accepted the award from Minister Rajapaksa.

ComBank, a punctual taxpayer

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) felicitated Commercial Bank for being the most punctual taxpayer in Colombo for the past five years consecutively.

Commercial Bank, Assistant General Manager, Properties and Services, Noel Wickremasinghe hoisted the national flag at the Council premises, as part of the felicitation. The Bank was presented with a special card by the CMC, entitling it to priority service from the Council.

Seminar on information security

McAfee and South Asian Technologies recently hosted an Intelligent Security event in Colombo. Over 100 CIOs, CSOs and IT managers from Sri Lanka were present.

The event was to educate audiences on using situational awareness technologies to get real time actionable insight out of their security systems, thereby enabling organisations to make proactive and intelligent security decisions.

Managing Director, McAfee - India and SAARC Jagdish Mahapatra stressed the need for a connected security strategy and a robust situational analysis framework among organisations in Sri Lanka.

A South Asian Technologies spokesman said that Etisalat Lanka has deployed McAfee Enterprise Security Manager (ESM), one of McAfee’s key situational awareness solution offerings in the SIEM segment.
