Calling all past award winners
The Observer Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year contest, sponsored by
SLT Mobitel for the sixth successive year, will celebrate its 35th
anniversary this year.
The Sunday Observer, Sri Lanka’s flagship English newspaper with the
largest circulation, which launched the event at a time when there
wasn’t a single award show or tournament in school cricket way back in
1978/79, hopes to bring all past award winners under one umbrella to
seek their views and ideas to make it even more meaningful.
All past award winners who had won the Observer Schoolboy Cricketer
of the Year and the most popular titles, along with those who had won
awards for the best batsman, best bowler, best all-rounder and best
fielder under the all-island and outstation categories are kindly
requested to contact us immediately with their contact details and
awards won. SMS +94777270027 or E-mail to [email protected]
Meanwhile, the past few weeks of voting in the most popular
categories of the 35th Observer-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year
contests have turned out to be a keen tussle for supremacy with more
votes pouring in for frontrunners.
The Sunday Observer is working in close collaboration with the Sri
Lanka Schools Cricket Association, the Umpires Associations, Sri Lanka
Cricket and the SLC national selectors to hold the final review meeting
with the season’s performances to select this year’s award winners.
The final selections will be made early next month. |
