Pakistan destroy Windies' reputation

Wasim Akram was seen in a fine allround performance. He made 66 in the Pakistan 2nd innings total of 328 to push them through to a win against the West Indies.

Imran Khan of Pakistan made a fine knock of 61 runs and helped Pakistan to make 159 in the first innings and then took 4 for 30 and helped bundle out West Indies for 53 in the second innings to win the Test by 186 runs. Richie Richardson made the top score of 54 for the West Indies in their first innings
total of 248, but the West Indians lost the match to Pakistan by 186 runs.
The star in action...... Abdul Qadir – he took 6 for 16 in the second innings and helped bundle out West Indies for 53 to help Pakistan to a 186 run win in the Test at Faisalabad.

It was the first Test at Faisalabad and West Indies led by Vivian Richards were beaten by Pakistan by quite a handsome margin of 186 runs in the Test played with more than a day to spare. It was played from October 24, 25, 27 and 28 in 1986.

It was the first Test defeat under Richards after seven Test wins, and it was somewhat humiliating in that the tourists were bowled out for 53 runs in their second innings, chasing a target of 240 runs to win with more than a day to spare. The West Indies previous lowest in Test cricket was 76 which was also against Pakistan at Dacca (then East Pakistan) in 1958-59, when Fazal Mahmood vowled the tourists out in the first innings for a low score, finishing with 12 wickets in the game.

Pakistan's youngsters paved the way for this historical and memorable win against the powerhouse of West Indian batting and bowling. Pakistan batting first were bowled out for 159 and the West Indians somewhat rode over them, getting to 248 in their first innings. There was a lead of 89 runs for the West Indians, but this somewhat handsome looking lead could not keep the Pakistanis quiet in their second innings and with some useful knocks by Salim Yousuf (61) and Wasim Akram (66) bolstered the batting.

So Pakistan had a overall total of 487 runs with their spirited second innings total of 328 runs.Bowlers Wasim Akram who bagged 6 got 91 in the West Indies first innings total of 248 after bowling 25 overs, took it somewhat easy and allowed Imran Khan (4 for 30) and their magic spinner Abdul Qadir in a sensational bowling performance in 9.3 overs, a maiden and 6 for 16 "foxed" the West Indian batsmen without much of a fight in their second innings and were shot out for just 53 and thereby brought the Pakistanis a memorable win.
