Pura Neguma identifies 480 projects for implementation

All 480 projects identified to be implemented under the Pura Neguma
program initiated by the Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local
Government to create better cities for the people, will get off the
ground by the end of this year. It will be completed by June 2015,
Ministry Secretary R.A.A.K. Ranawake said.
He said the program was launched in 2012. Over 50 projects in 108
backward Local Government bodies have already been launched. “Rs.50
million will be allocated for each Local Government body under this
project to launch the projects under this program”, he said. The project
is funded with assistance from the Asian Development Bank. The main
objective of the Pura Neguma program is to create people-friendly Local
Government bodies by improving infrastructure facilities, city
beautification programs, public conveniences and making the services by
Local Governement bodies people-friendly.
The program is also aimed at developing bus stands, three wheeler
parks, buildings, libraries, toilets, crematoriums, resting places,
drinking water projects, byroads, jogging tracks and other facilities. |
