Boost for ornamental fish industry

The National Aqua Culture Development Authority has allocated Rs.
17.25 million to develop the ornamental fish industry in the Kalutara
district, Kalutara District Media Unit Chief Information Officer, W.
Shanthipriya said.
The authority has selected 230 from those engaged in the ornamental
fish industry in the district of which 145 will be trained initially.
The new industry which provides opportunities for self-employment
projects is expected to generate a substantial income. A loan facility
of Rs. 75,000 will also be provided to those who are keen to take the
industry.
The Authority has already granted loans to the tune of one million
rupees. |
