Kandy DCA to organise both one-dayers in Pallekelle

Kandy District Cricket Association will handle the arrangements for
the two One Day Internationals between Sri Lanka and South Africa which
will be played at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium,
Pallekelle on July 26 and July 28. Both matches will be Day/Night ones.
This was disclosed to the Sunday Observer by the President of the
Kandy District Cricket Association Tilina Tennakoon. He said that the
Kandy District Cricket Association has a very good team of officials who
have been handling International cricket matches played in Kandy since
1998.
They have men of experience like Secretary Roland Perera, Senior Vice
President Janaka Pathirana, Vice Presidents Tissa Jayasinghe, Amith
Wanigasekera, M. Zarook and other executive members Pulasthi Amerasinghe,
Jaliya Munasinghe, Lakshman Panditharatne, Chinthaka Girihagama,
Senerath Jayasundera, C.N. Dissanayake, Viranjan Sumanasekera, Lalith
Chandrasena, N. Dissanayake, Anton Perera to this will be added the
expereince of former Director of Coach of Sri Lanka Cricket Malcolm
Perera who is now a member of this Association.
He said that over 300 policemen will be on duty in addition to the
fifty Brave Guards who will be assigned duties to man the gates and
other vantage points. Tickets will be available for sale at Abans
Limited and also at the Pallekelle Cricket Stadium.
There will be a rush for tickets and the spectators are advised to
purchase them early to avoid the last minute rush. They are also advised
to be in the grounds early as there will be body searches on spectators
entering the grounds. They should not bring into the grounds objects
which could be thrown into the grounds or sharp instruments.
The Honorary Secretary of the Kandy District CA Roland Perera said
that a very large crowd is expected and sale of tickets has been very
good.
The weather up in the hills has been very good with hardly any sign
of rain and the ground is in its best condition. Therefore good cricket
is in store for the cricket fans. |
