Mobitel unveils SIM-based NFC technology

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel launched SIM-based NFC technology recently.

Opting to pay by using a phone with a NFC-enabled SIM card is gaining popularity across the world. This option is one that is fast and secure, where payments done in a retail environment are 100 percent contactless.

NFC or Near Field Technology is now available for a multitude of applications through Mobitel's suite of business solutions.

The NFC fuel card management system is one of them.

This system is useful for companies to efficiently administer the fuel quota assigned per employee, their eligibility, user data, reports and statistics while preventing malpractices which generally occur with the use of traditional fuel chit-based systems.

One of the key advantages of SIM based NFC is the ability to connect and synchronise consumer data to the NFC platform through a TSM (Trusted Service Manager).
