Abans, corporate reseller for HP

AB Technologies, a subsidiary of the Abans Group, recently signed a new agreement with HP (Hewett Packard) as a Corporate Re-Seller.

AB Technologies is backed by the experience and expertise that Abans Group have in the IT industry.

Abans are the authorised distributors for HP computers and have been marketing HP computers and accessories for many years. Abans is also a Service Provider for commercial and consumer HP products.


Smartphones sales top feature phones

Smartphone sales exceeded feature phone sales for the first time in the April-to-June period, according to research firm Gartner. Worldwide mobile phone sales totalled 435 million units. Smartphone sales accounted for 225 million units, up 46.5% from the previous year.

Feature phones totalled 210 million units, down 21%.

The highest smartphone growth rates came from Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe, the firm said. A smartphone is commonly defined as a device that has built-in applications and can connect to the internet. In contrast, feature phones tend to perform fewer functions and are priced more cheaply. SLIA launches Architect 2014

Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) conducted a ceremony to launch Architect 2014 at the Galadari last week.

The institute also felicitated their main sponsors Alumex, Ranjanas Ceramic, Phoenix FlowGuard, Lanka Tiles, Charter House and Lankem Robbialac and stallholders of Architect 2013.

Architect 2014 will take place at the BMICH from February 19-23, 2014. A key component of the annual sessions, celebrating its 32nd year, is the members' trade and work exhibition. The exhibition will feature approximately 300 stalls that will showcase products related to the construction industry.


Aon Hewitt launches selection and assessment tools

Aon Hewitt, a consulting and outsourcing firm, launched its suite of selection and assessment tools for Sri Lankan organisations recently.

The suite covers a range of solutions - campus and entry level candidate selection, middle management assessments, senior management development centres and virtual development centres.

Aon Hewitt has been working with leading Sri Lankan companies over the past decade, on talent management and HR related programs.
