Bingiriya flowers for export



Ministers Basil Rajapaksa, Prof GL Peiris and Nimal Siripala de Silva view the exhibits

A project to cultivate flowers and foliage for export has been launched in the Kurunegala District under the 'Divineguma' national development programme.

The project is to be expanded islandwide. The Export Development Board and Bingiriya Development Foundation jointly implemented the project.

Cabinet ministers, Basil Rajapaksa, Prof. G.L. Peiris and Nimal Siripala de Silva participated at an exhibition and workshop on horticulture in Bingiriya, Kurunegala recently. Around 500 flower-growers of the NWP were educated on the successful methods of horticulture.

The President of the Bingiriya Agri-export Zone, Sampath Dissanayake organised the programme.
