Two killed, nine injured in road accident

At least two women were killed and nine others sustained major injuries when the vehicle in which they were travelling crashed onto a tree on Anuradhapura-Kurunegala Road in Thambuttegama yesterday morning.

The group was reportedly bound for Anuradhapura on a pilgrimage from Bandaragama, the police spokesman said.

Six of the injured were rushed to the Anuradhapura Hospital while three others were admitted to the Thambuttegama Hospital.
