UPFA celebrates 62nd anniversary of SLFP

The 62nd anniversary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will be
celebrated on a grand scale at Maligapitiya in Kurunegala on September 2
at 3.00 p.m. It will be held with the participation of party leaders of
the UPFA. President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be the chief guest and the
President will hold the first election propaganda meeting of the UPFA
here for the forthcoming provincial polls for Wayamba, Northern and
Central Provinces. The election is scheduled to be held on September 21.
All cabinet ministers, parliamentarians, former NWP PC Councillors in
the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts will participate in the
anniversary celebrations. People's representatives of Pradeshiya Sabhas
in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts too will take part in the
celebrations, Indika Bandaranayake, Deputy Minister of Local Government
and Provincial Councils, told the Sunday Observer regarding the programs
of the SLFP for the forthcoming Wayamba PC polls. Indika Bandaranayake,
the Kurunegala District parliamentarian is the chief organiser of the
SLFP for the Panduwasnuwara electorate. |
