Airtel Lanka launches mobile adz with ANCL

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, today announced its partnership with the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL), Sri Lanka's leading publisher of newspapers to offer 'e-Mobile Adz' a unique sms-based system to place classified advertisements in ANCL newspapers.

Through this service Airtel customers can now avoid the tedious process of placing a classified advertisement in the Silumina and the Sunday Observer, the weekend Sinhala and English newspapers which enjoy the largest circulation through their mobile phones by following a few simple steps.

Both prepaid and post paid Airtel customers can place their ads throuth the mobile by simply dialling #429#, and each advertisement can contain up to 45 words. After selecting the publication, the section and the date, the customer will receive a confirmation SMS with a reference number that needs to be quoted to place the advertisement.

The advertisements for the Sunday Silumina should be placed on Friday before 3 p.m. and for the Sunday Observer on Friday before noon.

Cancellations and replacements can be arranged by dialling 1949 and providing the reference number.

Thus, in essence, this new facility will enable Airtel subscribers to save time and other expenses that would usually occur through traditional methods and post their advertisements at any given time.

ANCL is the market leader in classified advertising in Sri Lanka and its latest partnership with the four leading mobile service providers, signifies ANCL's commitment to serve its readership and clients through the convergence of traditional and new methods of communication.

Bharti Airtel Lanka commenced commercial operations of services in Sri Lanka on January 12, 2009, and was the fastest operator to reach one million customers in Sri Lanka.

With its network footprint panned out across the country and capturing strategic ranking positions in various areas in less than three years of operation, Airtel has emerged as Sri Lanka's fastest expanding network. Registered under the Board of Investment in Sri Lanka, Airtel Lanka provides digital mobile services to Sri Lanka which includes voice telephony, voice mail, data services and GSM based services. The company has also received accreditations such as ISO 27001:w005 and ISO 22301 for its continuous efforts towards information security and business continuity.
