Contaminated injection vials withdrawn

The Health Ministry has withdrawn all Promethazine Hydrochloride injection vials and informed the Indian manufacturing company to withhold the 25ml injection vials found to contain foreign particles, until further notice.

"We have suspended the import of these injection vials temporarily and have informed Elvita Pharma (Pvt) Ltd, India, not to send more vials till our inspecting team inspect the manufacturing laboratory. The green light to resume exports will be given only after the Cosmetics Devices and Drugs Authority is satisfied that they do not contain foreign particles or any other contaminants", Health Ministry spokesman W. Wanninayake told the Sunday Observer, yesterday.
