Learning the alphabet - the Pinchi way

Children's writers have a vivid imagination and put their minds into the mind of a child. Creations for children are quite tricky - they should be explorations of life - not Sunday school lessons.

Sri Lanka had the rare privilege of having several wonderful child artists and among today's children's book writers, Janaki Suriyarachchi stands out. She has written 205 children's books on a vast array of subject and all of them are not just fairy tales. The array of subjects cover soft little stories to suit the fantasies of a child's mind and heavy subjects like environment science, astronomy, mathematics as well as stories to embed good practices and patriotism in a child's mind.

With her effort to bring colour to a child's world, the DVD 'Pinchi' and the alphabet will be released to the public on the eve of September 12 at the 'Mihilaka Medura' at the BMICH.
