UNP crisis unresolved
The United Bhikkhu Front headed by Ven. Girambe
Ananda Thera pledged recently to help the party resolve its long drawn
out crisis with extensive discussions with its incumbent leader Ranil
Wickremesinghe, Karu Jayasuriya, Sajith Premadasa and a number of party
stalwarts. As an initial step, the Bhikkhu Front suggested a leadership
council for the party at a meeting with Ranil Wickremesinghe and he
virtually agreed.

Wignes grabs them all
A large number of posters sprung up in several areas
in the North, mainly in Killinochchi town, criticising TNA
parliamentarian and EPRLF leader Suresh Premachandran. The posters also
praised the decision by Chief Minister Wigneswaran over the appointment
of ministers to the NPC. The posters put up mainly in Kilinochchi,
Paranthan and Mullaitivu areas stated that the people had not voted to
give ministerial portfolios to murderers.

gather first hand information about the prevailing situation in the
country. They would realise that the situation in Sri Lanka is not the
perception they had in mind - the distorted picture projected about Sri
Lanka by certain sections of the international media.
