DFCC conducts SME skills development program in Matara
DFCC Bank, a strategic partner to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
and a pioneer in developing industries, has been implementing a
strategic plan to develop skills of SMEs across the country for over two
decades.
“These programs have benefited over 50,000 small and medium sized
entrepreneurs especially in the outstations where opportunities for
skill development in key business related areas are limited,” a bank
spokesman said.
The most recent programs on SME skill development were held in the
Weligama and Middeniya region. This region has been earmarked by the
Government for rapid growth and expansion within the next 10 years with
other development in the Southern Province.
“The attendees of the program consisted of businessmen mainly from
the tourism, furniture manufacturing, fisheries and trading industries
and were trained by renowned specialist in the field,” he said.
Entrepreneurs face issues that are complex and challenging.
Often they suffer from general lack of business direction and
improper management in areas such as strategy formulation, production,
marketing, finance and personal management.
“DFCC strives to impart this knowledge to help develop this sector
and their assistance extends beyond financing,” the spokesman said. |
