More Tamil-speaking police officers for N-E
The Police Department has deployed thousands of
Tamil-speaking officers to the Northern and Eastern Provinces.
Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said 900 Tamil police
officers and 1,500 Sinhala police officers fluent in Tamil have been
deployed to police stations in these two provinces.

The Sri Lanka Navy, which owns a proud history,
will celebrate its 63rd anniversary tomorrow in an elaborate manner.
Celebrations, held in accordance with naval traditions, consist of
religious and social functions conducted to coincide with the Navy
Day, which falls tomorrow.

Navy rescues four TN fishermen
Sri Lanka Navy personnel have rescued four
fishermen from Tamil Nadu who were in distress after their boat
capsized in rough seas due to an engine failure. Naval personnel
attached to SLNS Wasaba of the Northern Naval Command rescued the
four fishermen from Jagadapattinam, India in the seas west of Delft
Island.
