A Diving Support Vessel (DSV) Samudra Sevak, owned by the Oil and
Natural Gas Corporation of India (ONGC) called in the Colombo Dockyard
for major lay-up repairs in October.
Diving Support Vessels are specialised vessels used at offshore oil
exploration sites in the global arena. These vessels are fitted with
sophisticated dynamic positioning systems, saturation diving system
equipped with a diving bell and related operating systems.
The DSV Samudra Sevak is now in dock number four (125,000 DWT) for
final repairs and testing.
Colombo Dockyard mobilised an experienced repair team for the smooth
re-delivery of the vessel meeting client and classification
requirements.
The project is headed by Ship Manager, Priyanka Cooray.
The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. Mumbai, are the managers to
the project.
Colombo Dockyard PLC, set up in 1974 has grown to be an international
player providing repair services and shipbuilding to a wide client base
over the past three decades. The shipyard celebrated 20 years of
partnership with Onomichi Dockyard Co. Ltd, Japan in March.
