Abans to delight shoppers

Abans has oganised a variety of special activities during the Christmas season such as children's programs, cookery demonstrations and special promotions at their Elite showrooms.

There will be a Christmas carol competition at Abans Elite Showroom in Welisara on Friday.

There is also toy corner for children.

"Abans has everything you need for Christmas gifts and also for your home. From little things that add elegance and charm to globally renowned home appliances from Abans 'green range' that are designed and developed to save electricity," a company spokesman said.


Mobitel wins 'Best Project' award

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel won the 'Best Project' award at the National Project Management Excellence (NPME) Awards 2013, conducted by the Project Management Institute (PMI) Sri Lanka Chapter.

The NPME Awards was held for the first time this year by PMI to recognise and honour outstanding Sri Lankan management professionals of Project Management discipline.

Mobitel was awarded 'Best Project' of the year for its successful completion of the initial phase of its Stage VII Network Expansion.


Laugfs launches bottling plant

Laugfs Beverages, formerly known as Laugfs Aqua, launched a state-of-the-art bottling plant in Pannipitiya recently.

"The plant, in Hiripitiya, Pannipitiya, adheres to stringent quality standards, enabling Laugfs Beverages to offer quality bottled drinking water. Laugfs Aqua, which was a subsidiary of Laugfs Holdings, has seen consistent growth since its inception 12 years ago," a company spokesman said.


 


Dr. Koshi Mathai calls it a day

Koshi Mathai, the Resident Representative of the IMF in Sri Lanka addressed his final media briefing in Colombo last week. With over four years continuous service in Sri Lanka, Mathai is the IMF official with the longest service record in Sri Lanka. Mathai has been positive of the economic performance in the country and the macroeconomic policies of the government.


 


Seylan's Christmas offers

Seylan Bank has introduced 'Seylan Christmas Planner' for its credit card holders. Each day of December has an offer spread over clothing, super market shopping, fuel, and jewellery. On Friday evenings motorists get a Rs. 10 refund on every litre of fuel pumped into their vehicles between 4-8 pm at all Lanka IOC outlets while those who do supermarket shopping at any supermarket chain between 4-8 pm during the weekend receive a 10 percent refund of the bill.


AMW presents IT equipment

The Associated Motorways (Private) Limited (AMW) presented a stock of used IT equipment to Gampaha Technical College and Don Bosco Technical Centre recently.

Seventy seven CPUs, 37 monitors and 26 printers were presented to the institutes to provide trainees hands-on sessions pertaining to hardware and software courses.


Major Tissa Aluwihare SLASSPA president

Country President of Bren and Securitas Sri Lanka, Major Tissa Aluwihare, was unanimously elected as President of the Sri Lanka Security Service Providers Association (SLASSPA) at their ninth Annual General Meeting at Hotel Taj Samudra recently.

"Major Aluwihare, who looks back on 23 years in the security industry, has led his company, Bren Security, with success, culminating in it's merger with Securitas AB of Sweden in 2010," a company spokesman said.

Securitas AB has a presence in several countries.


NCCSL signs MoU with CCPIT, China
 

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) signed an MoU with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Foshan Committee during the CCPIT delegation's recent visit to Sri Lanka. The delegation was led by Chairman, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Foshan Committee, Xie Weixiong. CCPIT Chairman Xie Weixiong exchanging the MoU with NCCSL President Sunil G Wijesinha. Senior Deputy President, NCCSL, Thilak Godamanna (centre) looks on.


Kelani Cables clinches Gold


Country Director, ILO Country Office for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Donglin Li presents the gold award to, Manager - HR, Kelani Cables, Gihan Vidanagama. Chairman, George Stuart Finance and President SLITAD, Eastman Narangoda looks on.
