92 Octane petrol in market from Jan 1

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) announced last week that it will import 92 Octane petrol to replace 90 Octane petrol that is currently available in the local market. The Corporation will import 92 Octane petrol from January 1, 2014.

The CPC said there is a shortage of 90 Octane petrol in the global market and Sri Lanka would, therefore, shift to 92 Octane petrol. The 92 Octane petrol is also more environmentally-friendly, the authority said.

However, the 92 Octane petrol will be sold at the same price as the 90 Octane petrol, the CPC said.
