Tetra Tech wins Badulla water supply contract
Tetra Tech Inc, a US firm, said it had won a US $ 74 million contract
to build a water supply and treatment plant in Sri Lanka. The US
Export-Import Bank is financing the deal.
Tetra Tech will design and oversee the completion of a new water
supply treatment plant, storage tanks, pumping stations, a dam,
reservoir and transmission and distribution pipelines for Badulla and
the surrounding areas. It will also rehabilitate two plants for the
National Water Supply and Drainage Board. “Tetra Tech is proud to
support the government of Sri Lanka in this important effort to bring
safe drinking water to thousands of people,” Tetra Tech's Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer Dan Batrack, said in a statement.
“Once in place, the water supply system will help the government to
provide safe drinking water to 85 percent of the population, in line
with the United Nations Millennium Development goals.
