People's Bank opens SME Centres

The People's Bank opened two Small and Medium Scale Business Centres in Vavuniya and Batticaloa recently. The centres are at the Vanni Regional and Batticaloa Regional Head Offices. Both centres were opened by the People's Bank, Deputy General Manager, Cooperative and Development Banking, T. A. Ariyapala.

The centres aim at uplifting small and medium scale business sectors by providing them with adequate loan facilities for agriculture based products, livestock, apparel, fisheries, tourism, construction and other business sectors.

Following the opening of the centres, loans were granted to entrepreneurs to set up businesses.

People's Bank, Chief Manager, Small and Medium Sector, Wickrama Narayana, Vanni Regional Manager E. M. G. Karunaratne, Batticaloa Regional Manager Abdul Azeez, bank officials and a large number of entrepreneurs were present.
