Laksala Gallery Cafe sales top Rs 9 m

Anil Koswatte

Laksala Museum Gallery Cafe in the premises of the National Museum, was opened to the public on August 1, 2013.

It has been built to blend perfectly with the architecture and atmosphere of the museum and in the format of a gallery cafe, unlike the other outlets of Laksala which follow the boutique design.

This four-month old store recorded sales amounting to Rs 9.03 million in November.

"Laksala has been experiencing a notable growth in revenue and profits within the past two to three years, which can be mainly attributed to our shift from the traditional functions of a Laksala store.

"We have adopted an innovative business model to suit the emerging economy of the country where tourism, locally and global, is becoming a focal point in our economy," a spokesman for Laksala said.
