Man critical in hit-and-run case

A 60-year-old heart patient who was found in an unconsciousness state
following a hit-and-run accident in Mt. Lavinia last morning, was
admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital in
a critical condition.
The police have identified the number of the vehicle involved in the
accident.
An eye witness had informed the police that the driver of the car
involved in the accident who had volunteered to admit the patient to a
hospital, had subsequently dumped him in a by-road near Templers Road.
The accident had occurred around 6 am on Galle Road when the victim
had crossed the road to buy a newspaper after his morning walk. The
police found him around 7.30 am, and has been indentified as proprietor
of a pharmaceutical distribution agency.
