More botanic gardens to lure more tourists

The Minister of Botanical Gardens and Public Recreation, Jayaratne Herath plans to set up botanical gardens in every administrative district in the country this year.

The prime objective is to attract more local and foreign tourists to these areas. The program is expected to promote tourism in the country.

"Rs. 500 million would be invested in this project and 5,000 direct and indirect job opportunities would be created for the unemployed youth in the country," Minister Herath, who is also a Kurunegala district Parliamentarian, told the Sunday Observer.
