Dear children,

Most of you must have heard about the Pidurutalagala Peak. This is in the Nuwara Eliya district and can be easily seen from anywhere in Nuwara Eliya but it is supposed to be a difficult trek to the top. We have some information about it in our pages this week.

In Sri Lanka mountaineering is just catching on and people are now interested to climb these peaks and survey for themselves. In the West, mountaineering is an enjoyable pastime. School chlidren climb mountains during holidays getting a backpack ready and off they would go. Mountaineering is an arduous experience but it must be done under parental or adult supervision because danger lurks in all corners.
