President at Kalutara Diri Uda 2014

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will distribute school equipment among Grade One students in the Kalutara district on January 31, at St. Mary's College ground, Matugama at 11 a.m.

Over 20,000 Grade One children will receive stationery gifts, a schoolbag, a lunch box and a water bottle. This program is organised by Senel Welgama under "Diri Uda", a concept of Transport Minister Kumara Welgama.

Three buses to the value of Rs. 10 m will be presented to Kamburawela M.V., Dodangoda Miriswatte National School, and Bulathsinhala National School, at the main ceremony. A new building complex for Matugama Divisional Secretariat will also be opened by President Rajapaksa. A special entry for differently abled people and an auditorium are the special features of this building complex. Matugama Divisional Secretary told the

Sunday Observer that the new building was constructed at a cost of RS 61 million and took only an year to complete the task. President Rajapaksa will also open a new shopping complex in the heart of the town.

He will also take part in a religious ceremony at Prathiraja Pirivena, Agalawatte.

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena and Transport Minister Kumara Welgama will grace the occasion.
