Commuters taken for a ride

Commuters paid hundred rupees as bus fare from Hatton to Kuda-oya, commercial junction, Kotagala, Patana and Talawakele, which is only two to three kilometres from Hatton town.

The incident took place on January 13 around 10 pm in the private bus, NC 4909. To add insult to injury the conductor refused to issue tickets to passengers.

The CTB bus which Plies to Talawakele from Hatton town at 9.30 pm did not turn up on the day and a large number of passengers were compelled to take the private bus. Transport Minister, C.P. Ratnayake, said that action will be taken against the driver and the conductor.
