Hits career best 244 in 405-run partnership with Mubarak (164):

Angelo proves his class in established game too

NCC's explosive middle order batsman Angelo Perera smashed a rapid double hundred on the second day putting on 405-run partnership with Jehan Mubarak (164) for the fourth wicket as Nondescript Cricket Club piled up a mammoth 552 for 6 wickets declared against Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club in a Sri Lanka's Premier League Group ‘B’ match played at NCC grounds on Saturday.


Angelo Perera

Perera, the 23-year-old right hander, who was unbeaten on day one with 40 not out with Jehan Mubarak on 35 not out, showed a pulsating batting display throughout the whole day playing an aggressive innings. He belted 244 off 204 hitting 30 fours and six sixes while Mubarak cracked 164.

The former St Peter's College, cricketer, who had been tagged as a limited over batsman, with his elegance and the brilliant stroke play, showed his immense potential displaying a lot of maturity, stamina and endurance during his 204-ball knock before he departed when NCC had put on 486-4 on the board. Jehan Mubarak, the brilliant back foot player, faced 247 balls hitting 14 fours and two sixes. At close Air Force were 57-1 trailing by 299 runs.

Air Force: 196 all out in 53.2 overs (Yashodha Lanka 45, Sajith Kelumpriya 32, T Nadeera 31, Ajith Kumara 27, Sohan Boralessa 4-37, Dushmantha Chameera 3-31) and 57-1 in 15 overs.

NCC: 552-6 decl in 97 overs (Angelo Perera 244, Jehan Mubarak 164, Niroshan Dickwella 35, Dushan Vimukthi 3-113).

Malinda takes 6-68

Malinda Pushpakumara, Moor's SC's left arm spinner bagged 6 wickers for 68 runs as Badureliya Sports Club were bowled out for 206 runs in their second innings at Moors grounds.

Badureliya were forced onto follow on after they were pathetically dismissed for 149 runs for Moors SC's tall first innings total of 420 runs.

Durham county cricketer Michael Richardson made an unbeaten 99 sharing 64-run stand with Thilan Thushara (42) for the ninth wicket.

Moors: 420-9 decl in 75.3 overs (Janaka Gunaratne 147, Dilhara Lokuhettige 56, Suresh Niroshan 50, Thilan Thushara 4-90, Janishka Premasinghe 3-94).

Badureliya SC: 149 all out in 39.1 overs (Michael Richardson 36, Greg Smith 34, Janishka Premasinghe 34, Malinda Pushpakumara 4-52, Irosh Samarasooriya 2-24, Dilhara Lokuhettige 2-40) and 206 all out in 42.3 overs (Michael Richardson 99 n.o, Thilan Thushara 42, Ranil Dhammika 27, Malinda Pushpakumara 6-68, Janaka Gunaratne 2-27).
