Swadeshi renovates Sri Dalada Maligawa
The Sri Dalada Maligawa |
Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC, Kandana, renovated the Sri Dalada
Maligawa and ancient murals of the historic Dambadeni Raja Maha Vihara
as a CSR initiative of the company.
Swadeshi Industries has engaged in this endeavour under the
supervision and direction by the Archaeology Department.
Modern high cost technology was used to restore the historic murals
of this ancient place of worship and extensive repair work was done to
the Sri Dalada Maligawa without damaging the original structure.
The historic Dambadeni Rajamaha Vihara is much respected as the place
where the most respected cultural pageant of the country, Sri Dalada
Perahera was first held.
King Parakramabahu the Second, who ruled from Dambadeniya built the
Dambadeni Rajamaha Vihara.
The king conducted the Dalada Perahera to pay homage to the Sacred
Tooth relic which was housed there for 13 years.
Illuminating places of worship of historic value is a CSR program
conducted by Swadeshi Industries for over 15 years. |
