England ‘A’ win by 167 runs

England ‘A’ beat Sri Lanka ‘A’ by 167 runs in their first unofficial Test match which ended at Pallekela yesterday.

In reply to England Lions 330 in their first innings Sri Lanka ‘A’ managed only 171 which gave the visitors a healthy 159 run first innings lead. C.R.Woakes (92 n.o) and S.G.Borthwick (64) further consolidated the ‘lions’ to gain their substantial lead to set a victory target of 479 runs for the Lankans.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ going in for the second time was aided by a responsible innings of 108 by Madhawa Warnapura who faced 268 deliveries and reaching the boundary on ten occasions.
