Consumers cautioned to be vigilant during Avurudu season

Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) warned the public to be vigilant when shopping during the Sinhala and Hindu New Year season. CAA Director Investigations Asela Bandara said the CAA had already received several complaints of vendors selling substandard products.

The consumers are asked to check the expiry date and prices of goods. Consumers should be cautious when buying goods from those who sell on pavements.CAA branches have been instructed to increase inspections and detections in the respective areas. Special teams in plain clothing will tour commercial areas during the festive season to nab errant traders, he said.
