People's Leasing ventures into green business

People's Leasing and Finance PLC has ventured into green business with its 'Green Friends' initiative. The 'Green Friends' finance initiative of the company facilitates eco-friendly vehicles, projects and businesses at concessionary rates.

Recognising the importance of sustaining an environment-friendly business at micro and macro levels, this newest and one of its kind initiative by People's Leasing will lend a helping hand to people, corporates and entrepreneurs by way of green financial solutions.

The initiative also provides finance for alternative energy projects such as bio-gas and solar, energy conservation initiatives, eco-friendly construction and process improvements including waste management and recycling projects.

The benefits that 'Green Friends' customers can derive include concession on leasing interest rates, insurance instalments and vehicle valuation fees.

CEO and General Manager, People's Leasing and Finance, D.P. Kumarage said that the company engages in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs throughout the country to safeguard the environment and this initiative goes that extra mile, integrating PLCs value of environmental responsibility to its business operations.

"We have a responsibility towards our environment and should nurture and sustain a green environment. Thus we carry out green initiatives as a socially responsible business entity and commit ourselves to align environmental strategy with our corporate strategy," he said.

"With the 'Green Friends' initiative we facilitate the financial needs of people who carry out environment-friendly projects and people who purchase eco-friendly productive assets particularly vehicles.

Thus it will be part and parcel of our business," said Kumarage.

Deputy General Manager, Operations, People's Leasing and Finance, Lionel Fernando said the company provides immense and competitive benefits for eco-friendly projects.
