Govt spends more on Eastern university

Minister of Higher Education S.B. Dissanayake opened the library, fine arts faculty and commerce and business management faculty building at the Eastern University on Friday.

The Minister was welcomed by the administrative staff of the University.

The inspected the building sites of the medical faculty hostel at Pillayarady and fine arts faculty hostel at Kallady in the company of the V.C., Dr. Kidnan Kovindarasa and the Director of the Aesthetic Institute Dr. M. Preamkumar.

Speaking on the occasion the Minister said the President Mahinda Rajapaksa is spending more funds on the Eastern University than for other universities in the island as the area was neglected for a long time due to the long drawn terrorism.
