Significant progress in Jaffna peninsula -Singapore FM

Visiting Singaporean Foreign Minister K. Shanmugam yesterday said that the Northern Province has seen massive development during the past two years. "I could see myself that there is a big difference in Jaffna between two years ago and today", he said. He said that reconstruction activities in Jaffna have taken place and small enterprises are coming up in a significant way.

"This is not my own imagination. Members of my delegation have visited the area two year ago", he stressed. The Foreign Minister said that the development in the Jaffna peninsular is very noticeable.

Shanmugam made these observations at an interaction with several media organisations in Colombo yesterday. He said that Singapore is always ready to share their expertise and experience to solve the issues facing Sri Lanka as a closer friend. The Foreign Minister said that on the part of Singapore, it is ready to make a difference in the lives of people in Sri Lanka.
