Significant progress in Jaffna peninsula -Singapore FM
Visiting Singaporean Foreign Minister K. Shanmugam yesterday said
that the Northern Province has seen massive development during the past
two years. "I could see myself that there is a big difference in Jaffna
between two years ago and today", he said. He said that reconstruction
activities in Jaffna have taken place and small enterprises are coming
up in a significant way.
"This is not my own imagination. Members of my delegation have
visited the area two year ago", he stressed. The Foreign Minister said
that the development in the Jaffna peninsular is very noticeable.
Shanmugam made these observations at an interaction with several
media organisations in Colombo yesterday. He said that Singapore is
always ready to share their expertise and experience to solve the issues
facing Sri Lanka as a closer friend. The Foreign Minister said that on
the part of Singapore, it is ready to make a difference in the lives of
people in Sri Lanka.
