Dengue Control Week in the South

The Southern Provincial Ministry of Health has launched a mosquito eradication programs this week in the Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts.

The health personnel will make the people aware of the significance of eradicating mosquito breeding sites, specially in all state institutes and schools.

The support of the security forces Police, civil security force, public health inspectors and other health officials will be enlisted.

The latest statistics indicate a decrease in the number of dengue cases compared to the last year.

Apart from making the Southern region a mosquito free zone, the health authorities' aim at effecting an attitudinal change in the minds of the people as an effective measure of checking the dengue threat.
