Mobitel to provide enhanced services for Android users

Celltick, a leader in mobile initiated commerce, will help Mobitel deliver a personalised customer interface for Android users based on Start.

Start, a next-generation Android interface layer, will enable Mobitel to provide a superior experience to customers and offer a range of services that deliver high value to them.

With Start, Mobitel's consumers will have access to everything that matters to them on the start screen of their device, which in turn can be personalised according to their preferences. It eliminates the need to browse through screens, menus or folders and offers a personalised experience the minute users wake up their phone.

Users will have fast access to 24 apps and a quick view into numerous information sources including social networks, music services and camera functions. Start is powered with a back-end recommendation engine that is based on big data techniques and uses collaborative filtering to provide context sensitive personalised suggestions.

"Mobitel is committed to introducing innovative services to the market. With the penetration of high speed data services, and the exponential growth in data consumption, we look forward to broaden the range of our data oriented applications to our subscribers," said Mobitel's Senior General Manager - Marketing, Nalin Perera.

"With Start we will offer customers an engaging experience and increase brand loyalty," he said.

"We are glad to be chosen by Mobitel to support them in their mission to introduce innovative mobile services to Android users in Sri Lanka," said Managing Director, Celltick, India, Abraham Punnoose.

"We are confident that the solution would enhance brand loyalty and create new revenue streams for Mobitel," he said.
