Australian School humbled by St. Servatius, Matara

St Servatius College, Matara's cricket team is preparing for the all Island schools under 17 tournament which begins next month.

The St. Servatius showed their strength by defeating the touring John Forrest Secondary school cricket team from Perth, Australia by six wickets at the Uyanwatta Stadium, Matara last Thursday (17th). Batting first, the visitors were bundled out for 92 runs in 26.4 overs with Haripriya de Silva, Ashen Deemantha and Ashen Kuruppu capturing two wickets each. The Servatians scored the winning runs in 12.4 overs. Openers Ashen Deemantha (36) and Thushan Eranga (30) took the match away from the visitors in the first six overs. Jeff Willy was rewarded with two wickets, bowling for John Forest secondary team from perth.
