Inter-Sussex atheletic meet:

Geethma Amarasinghe helps Sussex College Gampaha to top honours

ATHLETICS: Sussex College Gampaha won the inter-Sussex atheletic championship as Geethma Amarasinghe won the Best Girl Athlete Award while Amring Seyadu of Sussex College, Ratnapura clinched the Best Boys Athlete Award in the Sussex College network inter-school sports meet, which was held at Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo recently.

The Best Athlete of the girls at the meet, Geethma Amarasinghe of Sussex College Gampaha receives the award from Founder Chairman of Sussex College Network Sunil Jayatissa.

Over 2,500 students from 21 Sussex College branches islanwide, participated in the third annual athletic meet with the participation of over 3,000 parents. Major General Chrishantha de Silva, Chief of Staff Sri Lanka Army was the chief guest on the final day. Gamini Karunaratne, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Sussex College Network also graced occasion as the guest of honour.

The awards:

K.A. Sunil Jayatissa Challenge Trophy for Champion team: Sussex College Gampaha (323 points)

Gamini Karunaratne Challenge Trophy for runners-up: Sussex College Kiribathgoda (263 points)

T.M.R.D. Balasuriya Challenge Trophy for the third place: Sussex College Kandy (243 points)

P.C. Ratnamalala Challenge Trophy for Relay Championship: Sussex College Kiribathgoda

D.B. Andarawewa Challenge Trophy for Best Girl Athlete: Geethma Amarasinghe of Sussex College Gampaha in Under-15 long jump (4.3m)

H.M. Sirisena Challenge Trophy for Best Boy Athlete: Ahamed Amring Seyadu of Sussex College Ratnapura in Under-19 shot put event.

Boys Champions:

Under-19: Ahamed Amrin Seyadu of Sussex College Ratnapura and P Dolahamuna of Sussex College Kandy.
Under-17: Akila C Perera of Sussex College Gampaha.
Under-15: PS Samarasekara of Sussex College Kiribathgoda
Under-13: Batheesha Perera of Sussex College Kiribathgoda
Under-11: Manthila Marasinghe of Sussex College Wennappuwa

Girls Champions:

Under-19: Ashini Fernando of Sussex College Wennappuwa and Mafza Mohardeen of Sussex College Ratnatpura.
Under-17: E Imansala of Sussex College Kiribathgoda and Chasuni Wijesekara of Sussex College Ambalangoda
Under-15: M Samadhi of Sussex College Wennappuwa and Geethma Amarasinghe of Sussex College Gampaha.
