Buddhist temples to be reopened

The Department of Buddhist Affairs will re-open 450 Buddhist temples islandwide. They had been closed due to the lack of bhikkhus.

Commissioner General of the Department of Buddhist Affairs Chandraprema Gamage said that bhikkhus would be sent to these temples.

The Ministry of Buddhasasana and Religious Affairs will provide all facilities at a cost of Rs. 400 million, Gamage said.
