A new centre to promote arts and culture

The Ministry of Culture and Arts will construct a well-equipped study centre at Nawimana, Matara for those who do higher studies in Arts and Culture. This centre will be equipped with all aspects of Arts and Culture related to all countries in the SAARC region.

In addition, all information related to folk songs and dancing, livelihoods of the ancestors, ancient human languages of those countries would be provided to the Sri Lankans and foreigners from this proposed study centre, said the Minister of Culture and Arts T.B. Ekanayake. A sum of Rs. 75 million would be allocated for this by the government.
