Trinity in smashing 38-11 win over Science

Trinity College scored an easy 38 points (five goals, one penalty) to 11 (one try, two penalties) win over Science College Mt Lavinia in their schools under-19 rugby tournament second round match played at Trinity College Rugby Stadium, Pallekele yesterday. At half time, Trinity College led 24-8.

Trinity College after the 19-18 win over Royal last week, put up a better display to overcome the stiff opposition put up by the visiting team.

Trinity's forwards were in form and skipper Tharinda Ratwatte excelled in spot kicking converting the goals from varying angles.

Trinity started with stand-off Tharinda Ratwatte converting a penalty and this was followed by a try from centre S Dissanayake which was also goaled by Ratwatte. Trinity went further ahead when flanker Dharshana Perera barged over mid right and Ratwatte added the extra points. Science College replied through a try by lock forward RPS Singhe, who also knocked over a penalty.

In the second half, Trinity's fullback S Gunatilleke went over by the posts giving Tharinda Ratwatte an easy kick at goal. Midway this half, Science College lock forward RPS Singhe put over a penalty.

In the dying stages of the game, Trinity's flanker D Samarasekara scored a try and Ratwatte added the extra points.
