World's oldest cat is 24!

If the average cat lives about 12 years and has nine lives, how many
lives does 24-year-old Poppy the cat have? Poppy, who lives in England,
has been named the world's oldest cat! Twenty-four cat years is equal to
114 human years. The oldest living person, Misao Okawa, is 116.
If Poppy was a human she would be just two years shy of Okawa's
record! Poppy's owner Marguerite Corner says that the key to her long
life is probably a good diet and lots of exercise, although she does
splurge and gets an occasional piece of KFC chicken, fish and chips, or
kebab meat once in a while! Even in her old age -Poppy is blind and
deaf- this senior kitty doesn't let anyone boss her around.
Poppy still has ways to go -about 14 years- to become the oldest cat
of all time. Creme Puff, who lived in Texas, died in 2005 at the age of
38 years and 3 days! Do you have a senior pet? Are they anywhere near as
old as Poppy? -GoGo News-Internet
Sri Lankan janitor finds $80,000 in garbage
A janitor who found $100,000 in a garbage bin in a bathroom in 2011
has now been given most of the money since no one claimed it.New Zealand
student Chamindu Amarasinghe was working as a corporate cleaner for a TV
company in Sydney, Australia. When he went to empty the garbage bin he
found that it was packed with $50 and $100 bills in Australian money! At
first he thought it was a prank, but he realised the bills were real
money when he picked them up.
The first thought in most people's minds would be, "I'm rich!", but
keeping the money never even crossed Amarasinghe's mind, because it
scared him."Someone could have put it there and planned to come back for
it. I didn't want them to come back for it and find it gone and them
come after me," he said.
He called his supervisor and asked him what he thought he should do
with the money. Police and plumbers worked together to remove the
100,000 Australian dollars (about 102,206 Canadian dollars) from the
stall.
There was even over A$1,300 stuck in the toilet's piping! Over the
years no one came forward to claim the cash, which was being held by the
state. Finally, after three years of waiting, Amarasinghe received a
phone call to let him know that most of the money - about CAD $83,397 -
is now his.
The rest will go to the state. "All the guys in the office felt the
same. He's a student who didn't think of pocketing it," said Detective
Senior Constable Daniel Thorne."I'm really, really lucky," Amarasinghe
said.
"I'm not going to waste it." He plans to give some of the money to
his family, some to charity, and some to a Buddhist temple.
