Priya's Escape' at Lionel Wendt

Priya Goonetilleke |
An exhibition of paintings and drawings by Priya Goonetilleke titled
Escape will conclude today at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery, Colombo 7.
The fourth exhibition by the artist features around 150 line drawings
and paintings with poster colour on paper and brings to life an
interesting series of landscapes, 'treescapes' and 'colourscapes' with a
rogues' gallery and an escape into fantasy in between.
Very much a self-taught artist, Priya Goonetilleke says her greatest
inspiration was her father the art critic, journalist and diplomat the
late L.P. Goonetilleke.
Regular visitors to the Goonetilleke home at Dehiwela were his close
friends the late LTP Manjusri, George Keyt, Justin Deraniyagala and
A.C.G.S. Amarasekera. "I'm fortunate to have been exposed to the work of
these great artists for a very early age", she said.
