GFH opens conference centre
The Galle Face Hotel (GFH) restoration project, a US $ 20 million
investment, is in progress and the meetings and conference centre was
launched after refurbishment.
“The hotel has undertaken an ambitious restoration project of its
rooms, restaurants and the ballrooms to restore it its former glory with
subtle modernisation to enhance the quality of the Galle Face Hotel
experience,” Galle Face Hotel Group General Manager Tony Fleming said.
“The hotel is intrinsically linked to the history and heritage of Sri
Lanka and the project is guided by uncompromising commitment to preserve
the unique ambiance for guests to enjoy,” he said.
Amidst extensive restoration of the landmark building the new meeting
and conference centre is now open for business. Situated on the first
floor, the latest facility will add a new dimension to the hotel’s
unique history and traditional hospitality. The centre will comprise
seven conference rooms, a library and two study rooms.
Galle Face Hotel, Director, Sales, Mubarak Gaffoor said that the
centre would be of useful as the country gears to become a preferred
destination for MICE tourism.
“We have re-defined a dedicated meetings, seminar, conference centre
and boardrooms for small to medium events focusing on facilitating great
outcomes. This product has been developed to meet the need for a
