SLMBC hosts interactive session

The Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council (SLMBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently organised an interactive evening to enable the Malaysian business community based in Sri Lanka to meet and interact with local counterparts, particularly members of the Business Council.

This interactive evening was organised by the SLMBC following a request by the Malaysian High Commission in Sri Lanka. Malaysian High Commissioner Azmi Zainuddin was also present.

According to the High Commissioner, Malaysian companies have traditionally been actively involved in infrastructure development projects in Sri Lanka, covering sectors such as education, telecommunications, banking and finance, tourism and hospitality.

He said Sri Lankan businessmen too have made substantial investments in Malaysia and have set up business links with Malaysian businesses.

"We hope that the links will continue to grow with the enhancement of the bilateral relations and trade between Malaysia and Sri Lanka," Zainuddin said.

Officials of companies such as CML-MTD Construction Ltd, Sincon International (Pvt) Ltd, Salcon Engineering Berhad, TKS Securities, Dialog Axiata and Public Bank were present.

The SLMBC continues to play a vital role in promoting business between Sri Lanka and Malaysia. It has been playing a vital role through its Investor Facilitation and Trade Relationship Development Initiatives, Members' Forum and interaction with business entities and stakeholders.

The SLMBC has also set up links with the Malaysia-Sri Lanka Business Council in Kuala Lumpur that serves to strengthen business and investment ties between private sector stake holders, entrepreneurs and investors in Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

The Council is headed by Head of Business Development, Macksons Paints Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. Ms. Nilrukshi de Silva.
