Global apparel label giant inks MoU with BOI

Royal Pac Printcare Lanka (Pvt) Ltd has signed an agreement with the Board of Investment (BOI) to set up an operation for the manufacture of apparel labels and packaging material for the apparel industry.

r-pac International Holding Co, the foreign investor in the new venture, is a company based in New York, USA, and is one of the largest label and packaging material suppliers to the global apparel industry.

The company has an advanced manufacturing process including significant advances in RFID technology which is increasingly deployed in apparel packaging and its supply chain.

The local partner, Printcare Packaging (Pvt) Ltd, a fully-owned subsidiary of Printcare PLC, one of the largest and sophisticated printing operations in Sri Lanka, is a leading provider of innovative printing and packaging services to export industries.


Hameedia launches Ramazan promotion

Hameedia has launched a promotion for customers during the Ramazan season. The promotion featuring two special offers will end on July 31.

With every purchase of Rs. 5,000 and above, customers will be entitled to free gift vouchers from Hameedias. Women will be entitled to discounts up to 40 percent with purchases from the shalwar collection on offer during this season. Hameedia also features a collection of men’s sarongs, made from handloom and powerloom fabrics. Managing Director, Hameedia Group, Fouzul Hameed said, “We are always looking for new ways to engage and excite customers,” he said.


Sampath Bank workshops for SME

Sampath Bank concluded its first Sampath Saviya Entrepreneur Development Workshop series for small and medium scale entrepreneurs.

Following the launch of the pilot project in Matale, the Bank's corporate management hopes to align the series to accomplish the vision of developing 500 successful entrepreneurs by the end of this year.

According to a Bank spokesperson, the group will comprise an equal number of males and females from various districts. The 20, three-day Entrepreneur Development Workshops will be organised in 20 districts for start up entrepreneurs, new entrants to the market, university and technical college students and differently-abled people.

Thef:;llstop launches office products

Thef:;llstop, the authorised distributor in Sri Lanka for the French brand Maped, launched a new 'Maped Office' range recently.

Sri Lanka became one of the first countries in South Asia to receive items from the new range, presented as a re-invention of common office implements to deliver advanced ergonomics and improved performance, functionality and endurance.

Maped backs its new puncher, stapler and scissors with a five-year warranty, longer than that offered by most leading automobile or electronics brands.


Audio products from Philips

Woox innovations, which drives the Philips brand in sound, home entertainment and related accessories recently introduced a range of innovative audio products. The products included the Philips Fidelio HTL 9100 and the blue-ray home theatre 5000 and 3000 series. The nitro NX speaker range and the Philips headphone collection were also introduced at this launch.

“These products strive to improve the entertainment experience through sound quality, advanced technology and sophisticated design,” Woox’s Sound and Acoustics Director Mattew Dore said.

 


Panasonic introduces new products

Panasonic Consumer Marketing Asia Pacific with Softlogic, the sole distributor of Panasonic consumer electronics and home appliances in Sri Lanka, launched dry-cell batteries and light bulbs to the market recently.

Panasonic launched three types of dry-cell batteries – manganese, alkaline and eneloop rechargeable batteries and two types of light bulbs, compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) bulb and light-emitting diode (LED) bulb.

Allianz Lanka rewards outstanding achievers

The Allianz Awards 2014 was held recently at the Kingsbury. The awards are Allianz Lanka’s annual celebration to reward powerful individual performances, strong team efforts and effective partnerships during 2013.

Allianz Regional Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific, Geroge Sartorel was the chief guest. Allianz Lanka Chief Executive Officer, Surekha Alles, the company’s senior management, Life and Non-Life sales staff, and spouses of the winners were present.

The ceremony was themed around the Formula 1 championship which Allianz partners as a global sponsor. Parallels were drawn with the challenging world of financial services in which the drive to succeed is as difficult and exacting as a Formula 1 race.


People’s Bank sports meet


The People’s Bank held a sports meet at the CCC grounds recently. It was organised by the People’s Bank Sports Club. Teams representing Colombo North, Colombo South, Head Office and Corporate Banking divisions of People’s Bank took part while the Head Office team emerged champions and the Colombo South team became the runner-up.
